"Black Raven" — the small, sharp tafl of early Ireland on a 7×7 board. You defend the king (gold) and his four warriors against eight raiders. Every piece slides like a rook. Trap an enemy between two of yours to capture it.
Rules
You play the defenders; the raiders (AI) move first.
Tap the king or a warrior, then a highlighted square to slide it there — any distance in a straight line, but nothing may stop on the throne or the four corners except the king himself.
Trap a raider between two of your pieces (a corner or the empty throne counts as one side of the trap) to capture it.
March the king to any of the four corners to escape and win; if the raiders surround him on all four sides, they win.
Tips
The king is strongest with a clear diagonal run of empty squares to two different corners at once — the raiders can only block one. Trade your warriors to smash the raiders’ blockade near a corner rather than hoarding them in the centre.
