Chinese Checkers

How to play

The marble-hopping classic (跳棋). Move a marble one step, or leap it in a chain of hops over any marble that sits beside an empty hole, and race all ten of your marbles across the six-pointed star into the opposite point before the computer fills yours.

Rules

  • Tap one of your (red) marbles, then a highlighted hole to move it there.
  • A marble can step one hole in any direction, or jump over an adjacent marble (yours or the AI’s) into the empty hole directly beyond it.
  • Jumps can chain in a single turn — keep landing on empty holes beyond another marble to hop several times before your turn ends.
  • Get all ten of your marbles into the star point opposite where they started to win.
  • Pick Easy, Medium or Hard next to the game name to change how the AI weighs its moves — it takes effect on the AI’s very next move, no need to restart.
  • Undo takes back your last move, and your game saves as you go — a Resume saved button appears if you left one in progress.

Tips

Leave a trail of marbles a hole apart to build “ladders” — one marble can then hop the whole chain in a single turn. Watch the AI’s ladders too: landing on the hole it needs breaks the chain. On Hard the AI plays its scoring straight with no randomness at all, so it reliably builds and takes those chains — drop to Easy for a more forgiving opponent.
