Pallanguzhi

How to play

A traditional South Indian sowing game played with seeds and a row of pits. Sow counter-clockwise around the board and capture your opponent's seeds when your last seed lands in an empty pit of your own.

Rules

  • Tap a pit on your (bottom) row to sow its seeds counter-clockwise, one per pit, skipping the opponent's store.
  • If your last seed lands in your own empty pit, you capture that seed plus everything in the pit directly opposite it — into your store.
  • Land your last seed in your own store and you get another turn.
  • The round ends when one side's pits are all empty; remaining seeds sweep to each store, and the higher total wins.

Tips

Chain bonus turns by landing repeatedly in your store, and watch for an empty pit of yours sitting opposite a full AI pit — that's a capture waiting to happen.
