How to play

A lightning capture game from Bengal, played on an hourglass of two triangles meeting at a point. Each side has five pieces facing off. Slide along a line, or leap over an adjacent enemy into the empty point beyond to capture it — and keep leaping if you can.

Rules

  • Tap one of your pieces, then a highlighted point to slide it one step, or leap straight over an adjacent enemy into the empty point beyond to capture it.
  • A capturing leap that lands somewhere with another leap available forces you to keep leaping with that same piece.
  • Whenever any capture is available anywhere on the board, you must make a capturing move rather than a plain slide.
  • Take all five of the AI’s pieces, or leave it with no legal move, to win.

Tips

The centre point is the throat of the hourglass — whoever safely holds it can strike into either triangle. Because captures are compulsory, dangle a piece where the AI’s only leap drops it into the mouth of your own chain, then sweep back across the centre.
