Bagh-Chal

How to play

The national game of Nepal — “moving tigers”. You command a herd of twenty goats against the AI’s four tigers. Place your goats one at a time, then move them to hem the tigers in. A tiger slides along the lines, or leaps over a lone goat to devour it.

Rules

  • First, tap empty points to place your twenty goats one at a time — the tigers move between your placements.
  • Once every goat is placed, tap one of your goats, then a highlighted point to slide it one step along a line.
  • Each tiger slides too, and can leap over any single one of your goats into the empty point directly beyond it, eating that goat.
  • Trap all four tigers with no legal slide or leap to win — but if the tigers eat five of your goats, they win.

Tips

Never leave a goat with an empty point straight behind it in line with a tiger — that is the leap the tiger wants. Keep your goats in connected blocks so each is backed up, sacrifice the placement phase to build a wall, and herd the tigers into the corners where their moves run dry.
